Financial Skills for Youth

Financial Skills for Youth

supported by:

The Financial Skills for Youth educational project was launched in the 2023-2024 school year as part of the global collaboration between Junior Achievement and Finastra. The project aims to develop basic skills on how to safely use financial services and protect one's identity online.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The Financial Skills for Youth project aims to involve Romanian and Ukrainian refugee students in applied learning educational activities, through which they can gain a better understanding of personal financial management and online safety. Students also learn how to identify and assess the risks involved in sharing financial decisions and information online.

EDUCATIONAL CONTENT

Educational activities take place both in the classroom and online, under the guidance of teachers and Finastra volunteers, based on a kit of educational materials also available on the JA Learn™ platform, on topics such as using online financial services safely, online data and identity protection, cyber security, responsibilities when sharing financial decisions or accessing a loan. The educational content combines theoretical notions and key concepts with practical applications and exercises that simulate real-life events.

By taking part in the project activities, students become more able to answer questions such as:

  • What are the main risks of sharing financial decisions?
  • How can I manage the risks of personal and shared financial decisions?
  • How can I identify and assess the risks of online behavior?
  • What are the responsibilities of a borrower?
  • How can I recognize online fraud and identity theft?
  • How can I protect my identity online?

Teachers and volunteers involved also receive free training and advice on how to run the activities.
